Barobora Kyšková was born on 2 May 1954 in Prague. She is a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic designer. She studied in 1969-1973 at the Václav Hollar High School of Art and then in 1973-1979 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of monumental painting of professor Arnošt Paderlík. He is mainly engaged in illustrating adventure stories for children and books of the science fiction and fantasy genre (he cooperates mainly with the publishing houses Albatros and Mladá fronta). He also works as a freelance painter, restoring old paintings and theatre sets for the castle theatre in Mnichovo Hradiště. He teaches art courses for children and adults at the private elementary art school Orphenica in Prague. She participates in group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad. Her works include, for example, book illustrations in the books Haunted City, Tales with Mystery, Ronja, the Robber's Daughter, Friend JAK, The Mysterious Vesuvius, The Robbers of Ostia, O'Bluda, The Chronicles of Prydain and The Mystery of the Dinosaurs.
